After watching a couple of his campaign appearances, I’m starting to worry as this man is tapping into both right and left populist positions for an “unholy” commingling of evil. I’m not yet ready to invoke Godwin’s law, but I’m close.

Trump is tapping into common fears and concerns of both left and right. He is calling for higher taxes on the hedge fund managers (something the left has called for decades), closing the borders (something the right has wanted for decades) and his nativism attracts both left and right, but for different reasons. His recent campaign speeches touch on topics both the left and right can agree upon (bring jobs back to the US). We need to bring industry back to the US (left) and he posits this position with the Republican primary voter as “closing the borders to rapists and murderers”. Yet, he offers no specifics on how he would accomplish any of these objectives. He’s going to round up 11 million “illegals” and send them back to where they came from? How? That is a shit load of people to deport in a 4 year term. You’d have to have a special police force created and you’d have to use a special form of transportation to move that many people. The only mode of transportation I can think of that could accomplish this would be boxcars. He wants to change the 14th amendment, not a chance of that happening but the crowds of mouth breathers coming to his speeches haven’t thought of how he will do this. I’m scared not because he is a “joke”. He is NOT a joke when you see this type of enthusiasm in his campaign speeches. This man has expertly tapped into both the left and the right with his nativism. Can he make one group (left) stay home while empowering another group (right) to come out to the polls in force? That is my fear. Godwin’s law may be proven wrong, by of all people, Trump.

Trump is tapping into Bill “The Butcher” Poole and it’s scary to me
