I hate this stuff. Seriously. Yet, for some reason completely unbeknownst to me, my current job requires me to live in the stupid thing. I'm being "forced" to learn this stuff; stuff that I've flat-out refused to learn for years (with good reason too - SQL sucks).

I just wrote a 469 line job to merge data. The data in our daily sheets can be duplicate data to what's in the database, so I have to:

Create a new database
Load the daily data
Set a primary key
Merge the daily data into primary database
Confirm merging


Of course this can't be done with simple commands because primary keys (in this case, phone numbers) cannot be duplicate. I can't just BULK INSERT this crap. And of course there's no good way to automatically select all and put it in the proper columns, so I have to dictate each and every column manually. There's only 70 of em. Thankfully the script is pretty lightweight - I only had to dictate the columns five times!
