Want to get some (ok a lot of) exercise, while celebrating the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future, and get a cool medal to show for it? Check out the Race to the Future 30th Anniversary Virtual 88 Miler.

Organized by Make Yes Happen, and while not affiliated with the Back to the Future movies or Universal Pictures in anyway, they are being partnered with Team Fox and the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. You can read all about it and register on the site, which will cost you $25 ($26.22 after the processing fee). You can also check out their Facebook page.

The basics are you have from Oct 21 to Dec 16 to run or walk a total of 88 miles, which you can log through one of the connected tracking methods or manually. If you already have a tracking app that isn’t Runkeeper, Fitbit, or Garmin, and said app’s website allows you to download a GPX file of your run or walk, you can sign up for a Runkeeper account and upload them to that.

And check out that medal!

Pretty cool looking medal, right? So if you’re a back to the future fan, and want to motivate yourself to get some exercise, and have $26.22 to put into it, go register and run to the future!

Reminder: if you’re looking for something a bit shorter than 88 miles, you still have until tomorrow to sign up for the Hill Valley Virtual Half Marathon (can also be run or walked in segments as long as they add up to 13.1 miles by Oct 31).

Update (12/16/15): Got my medal in the mail on Monday and it’s pretty nice. They even wrote “Great Scott!” on the envelope and included a Geek’d Out Running Club sticker.
