How do you stop a charging elephant? Take away his credit card.
This cute little critter is called a Rock Hyrax.
"But Otter", you're saying, "this little fella belongs on the daily squee, not in one of your weird articles!"
You may be right. I may be crazy. (apologies to Billy Joel)
Until you consider a few things about this fuzzy guy. Like the fact that, it's closest living relative would be.....the elephant.
Uh-huh. You read that right. If you open this guys mouth, he has, what appears to be, two teeth. But in reality, they are tusks.
Hyraxes will live together in a colony, like Prairie Dogs, and even have the same type of sentry system.
Hyraxes have a three chambered stomach, and that allows them to eat grass and leaves, due to the bacteria contained in them. Baby hyraxes aren't born with that bacteria, though. They have to get it from the adults. By eating their poop.
