Hey there folks! Long time no oddity.
I wasn’t actually planning on this post today. Normally I do tons of research and fact checking and all that other made-up stuff that sounds legit, but today, I’m eschewing all that. I’m also changing up the format a little. But the change is due to the fact that I didn’t do a lot of research on this yet. I mean, I really just discovered it and felt it was so odd that I had to share it with you.
The picture above is from a tv show, Trackdown, that aired from 1957 until 1959. It starred Robert Culp who many of you will remember from other shows like ‘The Man From UNCLE’. In an era when westerns were all about action, Trackdown was more of an intellectual romp through the old west. Oh sure, it had action aplenty, but it also tried to make people think.
Anyway, it was obviously a really good show because it lasted for a whole 2 seasons of 70 episodes. Which, back in the late 50's might have meant it was a good show. I don’t know. It was a full decade before my time. All I know for sure is, kids in the 50's were obsessed with cowboys. Everything was a western back then; movies, tv shows, radio shows, spokespeople, the list goes on. I think. I don’t know...I’m winging it here.....
Anyway, my point is, Trackdown’s 30th episode aired on May 9, 1958. It was titles ‘End Of The World’. It featured a man named Walter Trump who came to town declaring that the world was going to end and that only he could save the people. His solution? To build a wall. And when one of the show’s regulars called him a charlatan, he threatened to sue him.
Now.....seeing how that show is 59 years old, to me is seems that it has a fairly good grasp on todays current events.
Since I’m such a nice guy I have embedded the episode here for your viewing pleasure. Let’s just hope real life ends like this episode of Trackdown ends.
Trump gets arrested and sent to jail for being a con man.
